Douglas Quaid: If I am not me, then who the hell am I?

Square

One of my favorite movie quotes from Total Recall.

I don’t exactly know why it reminds of my own identity crisis. Before you jump into a conclusion, I didn’t mean that I don’t know who I am. I am a fully functional human being. I know exactly who I am, but I don’t know where the boundaries are.

I question every single thing. I question my values, my beliefs. I question my own existence. I have a hard time accepting things as they are. I see patterns and anomalies where most people don’t. I am not comfortable with things most people are comfortable with.

Here’s the duality: despite this inner conflict, I still function well. I get things done in time, making a good living and have people who value me. I am after my passion and I do only things I love.

Just like Douglas Quaid, in total recall. Well, the only difference is I am in touch with reality. 🙂
