Being Secondary

Square

I have always known this.

Even though I wouldn’t talk to many people, everyone knew me at high school. I was never the center of attention, but I was someone you couldn’t ignore either. If I were at a place my presence had to be felt, even if it weren’t the brightest.

I always enjoy that. Being afar, watching everybody, taking notes about things, close to a select few, understood and admired by a minority.

This way, the moon and I have so much in common. It isn’t the brightest object known to us. But it isn’t as pale as the stars either. Nobody can afford to ignore it, yet it is a mystery to most and fully understood only by a select few.

I have a feeling that the moon, too, enjoys being secondary.
